This painting depicts the summation of Christ’s life as incarnate man (divine virgin birth), His restitution and sacrifice for sin (cross) and the eternal King of Kings (crown).
The miraculous birth of Jesus was conceived in her from the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to earth to seek and to save the lost. His sacrifice on the cross was the ultimate act of love, enabling us to receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God. Jesus is crowned eternally with all power, authority and is ruler over all the earth.
- “Then the angel said to her, do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and shall call His name Jesus.”” (Luke 1:30-31, NKJV).
- “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed:” (Isaiah 53:5, NKJV)
- “. . . And the Lord sits as King forever.” (Psalms 29:10, NKJV).
The cradle, the cross, the crown.
