There are many attributes of God that describe His character and nature as the divine being.  This painting highlights the timeless attribute of God.  The clock represents the measuring of time by humanity who lives in a finite world of space-time dimension.   The hands symbolize the breaking away from a physical world to the spirit realm of God who has a timeless perspective where He is above and outside of the sphere of time.

• “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8, NKJV).

The marking of time is irrelevant to God because He transcends it.  Eternity is one of God’s attributes, but, having created time, He is greater than time and exists outside of it.  God sees all of eternity’s past and all of eternity’s future.
